#1394 "Fleur d' Afrique" Lithograph by Alain Le Foll

French artist Alain le Foll (1934-1981) had a short but dazzling artistic career stopped prematurely by his death at the age of 47. His life was punctuated by important works for advertising and publishing, complemented by personal work more focused on drawing and lithography. His personal work is more intimate. He reveals an organic world, a hybrid universe, animated by colorful variations inspired by his travels and sprawling creatures that strike our imagination. His drawings are made in colored pencil, pastel, gouache and Indian ink and he was also passionate about the technique of lithography. He liked to represent often stylized flowers (the rose-zinnia-peony) and laminated rocks drawn with a fine and precise line that elegantly girded his exuberant motifs.
