Rama is the hero of the Ramakien, the national epic of Thailand. It is derived from the Ramayana and adapts the Hindu myths to Buddhist teachings. Rama was a bold and powerful warrior as well a devout and virtuous man. The traditional figure of the "Thai Archer" shows Rama as both: with his bow and armor he is a fighter, but his very specific, yogic pose and hand gestures show he is also a seeker of enlightenment.
