#2050 Pair of Shell Back Italian Grotto Armchairs

A striking pair of Italian grotto-style armchairs featuring sculptural shell-form backs and a wonderfully theatrical silhouette. Inspired by the fanciful shell furniture associated with Italian coastal and grotto interiors, these chairs have an almost surreal quality that makes them feel equal parts furniture and decorative object.
The exaggerated scalloped backs give the pair a strong presence from every angle, while the compact proportions make them easy to work into a variety of spaces. Perfect as statement chairs in a living room, bedroom or dressing area, or placed opposite one another for a more dramatic arrangement.
A rare and playful pair with unmistakable Italian character—ideal for an interior that could use something a little unexpected.
Very good condition, recently reupholstered.
